Tonight is the Imagen Awards

And Aubrey Plaza is nominated! Just a reminder.

So we'll see tonight if Aubrey wins!

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Imagen Foundation has announced the nominees for the 25th Annual Imagen (Spanish for "image") Awards, honoring positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures in entertainment. The awards will be presented at a luncheon on Sunday, August 15th, at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City. Major sponsors of the event include The Nielsen Company, The Walt Disney Company, Disney/ABC Television Group, Fox Television Stations, The Lear Family Foundation, Latino Public Broadcasting and CBS.

The Imagen (pronounced ee-mah-hen) Awards program was established in 1985 from a suggestion by veteran television producer Norman Lear to encourage and recognize the positive portrayals of Latinos in the media. Later, as The Imagen Foundation, it expanded its programs and initiatives to further its mission to serve as a bridge between the Latino community and the entertainment industry in providing access, education, and resources for Latinos in the industry, as well as those seeking careers in entertainment.

◦Maria Canals-Barrera, Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie (Disney Channel)

Is Aubrey Plaza's April just a stooge and sullen teen?

Check out this review of Aubrey Plaza's Parks and Recreation character, April Ludgate...

The alchemy that happened with the casting of Modern Family doesn't happen to every show. Or even most shows. Even a lot of the shows that I love right now have somebody in the cast who is, to some degree, a stooge. If you'll pardon the blasphemy, Chevy Chase is funny on Community, but he's not quite operating on the same frequency as everybody else. As played by Aubrey Plaza, April from Parks And Recreation has only just started to be anything other than a sullen teen. The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki is often left behind like an anchor as Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and (increasingly lately) Simon Helberg soar above him. And so on.

=======================================

Is April just a stooge? I don't think so. I think the development between her and Andy have helped flesh her out as a major character.

Is the Parks and Rec cast really okay with the midseason move?

If you haven't heard, Parks and Rec got picked up for a third season, but it got shifted to start in the spring,

I bolded the parts below which suggest that the cast is not really okay with it (they're just coping and hoping)...

Before you go feeling all sorry for the Parks and Recreation gang's scheduling setback, heed our advice...don't. Because we think a brilliant little bald man by the name of George Costanza put it best: "Stuff your sorrys in a sack." (Are Seinfeld references outdated? No way!)

Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman and the rest of the cast is doing just fine, and asks one thing of you—tune into tonight's high-larious finale, will ya?

"We really believe in NBC's promise that they're going to find a good home for us," Amy tells us, as sweet as always. "We're really excited about the season we've had and the show's we've shot. I've very confident we're going to find a good home."

"As long as we are still coming to work and there are sandwiches, I'm OK," says Nick, aka Ron Swanson incarnate. Adds Aziz: "It's obviously not ideal. All we can control is making the show and making it great, and we're coming through on that end."

That doesn't meant the P-Rex crew doesn't appreciate the fan support. "Apparently, there's a bit of a public outrage taking place. It makes us feel good," Nick tells us. The ridiculously funny Chris Pratt (Andy) adds: "We've got a lot of great fans. You go to work and you do your best and hopefully enough people watch it."

And in case you didn't know it, the guy is ambitious. "I know this is a long shot," says Chris, "but I'd like to do Parks and Recreation for a hundred seasons." A totally reasonable goal.

Not to rain on any new NBC sitcom parades, but Nick thinks maybe fans of Pawnee won't have to wait very long. "We're shooting six episodes that were meant to be in the fall and might still be. You never know how TV plays out." Either way, Aziz knows we'll love what we see. "People are going to be psyched over the new episodes. It's the best stuff we've done, and I'm excited to come back whenever we do."

We were lucky enough to see tonight's season-ender, "Freddy Spaghetti," and the cast is not steering you wrong. In fact, after watching the finale, the idea of having to wait a minimum of six months before we get to see if Adam Scott's Ben and Leslie Knope get together, or what will be between Andy and April (Aubrey Plaza, who tells us things between the two "come to a head" tonight.") is a little gut-wrenching. But we digress.

"Leslie goes into the summer in season two not knowing if she has a job," explains Amy. "It's really fun because Adam and Rob Lowe play guys that come in and freeze our money." [Editor's note: Rob is the finale standout!]

And as for good ol' Ron, Nick only has this to say of his season-two sendoff: "He is going out and down with a bang." Boo-yah!

Aubrey Plaza - says Amy Poehler is a violent monster

Funny stuff. Aubrey pulls out her "April humor" for this interview.

News bits...

- April was promoted from an intern to Ron's assistance
- She has a crush on Andy, but she's still with her gay boyfriend
- Aubrey thinks Amy is a violent monster
- Aubrey would want to hook up with Chris Pratt on primetime television

We get to see Aubrey Plaza for a third season on Parks and Recreation!

Parks and Recreation Renewed for a Third Season

NBC has given one of its Thursday night comedies an early renewal this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has issued a third-season pickup for the comedy Parks and Recreation.

It was said that the early renewal was done strictly for scheduling and production reasons, to lock in the actors for a new season. A network rep said that it didn't reflect on the rest of its Thursday night comedy slate. Community, The Office, and 30 Rock are all expected to return next season as well.

Parks and Recreation stars Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Paul Schneider, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Nick O'Heir, Retta and airs on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM ET on NBC.

Will Arnett coming onto Parks & Recreation!

We knew it was coming! Amy's husband Will guest stars in the next episode!

It's funny that Amy's talking about this so seriously. She looks a little tired.

My only disappointment with this was I was hoping they were breaking up Amy's Leslie character with the cop in order to bring Will on as a longer term relationship. I'm sorry that it's just a one episode deal.

Will Arnett plays MRI Technician Chris in The Set Up.

Will thinks that his character, Chris, will be back.

The rest of these are sneak peeks of the next episode...

Ann suggests an attorney friend for Leslie to meet with.

You can see Aubrey in the background, barely.

Leslie meets with an attorney.

Leslie gets an MRI. Hahahaha.

Leslie goes on a date with an MRI tech, thanks to Ann.

The next episode looks like another good one! Enjoy!
